Graham, the council member that had spent time helping her train and hone her skills having betrayed her to directly into Sutherland's hands and admitting that he was the one responsible for capsizing and sinking an entire cruise ship that had a whole clan of mermaids on it, trapping them beneath the water so that they couldn't surface for air and ripping them apart-just to send a message.
Now, trapped on a small island with Sutherland and Graham, Graham and Eviana are being held prisoner. Graham receives beatings on a normal basis, presumable for having tried to warn Eviana away from Sutherland. They are both drugged, through needle or food forms, and told repeatedly they need to learn their places and what they are supposed to do. Unable to help herself, Eviana finds herself believing that there has to be some good in Graham and that he has to see how insane and horrible Sutherland is after all of his beatings. She secretly sneaks out to aid Graham in the evenings, trying to help him heal and hopefully give him some comfort. Her friends and family, however many miles away they are, search frantically for her, hoping beyond anything that she is still alive after her kidnapping. Kain, recovering from his wounds and weak, is anxious to find a way to break her free from whatever prison she's in and turns to Abhainn, the water sprite, in hopes that he can work another miracle and locate Eviana as well as help with an escape plan.
With the council on the edge of uproar, the world on the brink of war, and Sutherland edging closer and closer to victory and world domination, Kain is pressured to rescue Eviana, keeps their clans safe, protect those he loves and cares about, and figuring out what in the world Sutherland has up his sleeve next. But the question keeps haunting them all, how will they survive when so many other have failed, fallen, died, and are already bowing to the madman seeking power, fortune, fame, and endless renown? This book is a wonderful story and very well written. I couldn't put it down. The writer draws you into the story and twist you in so many directions to keep you intrigued.
Enjoyed the plot and plan to read the series.
The perfect book for young readers. Well written with so much excitement and breathtaking adventures with a very happy ending. As it should be.
This is the first time I have read a book about mermaids. I just wanted to read something different, I didn't want to put the book down it was good all the way from beginning to the end. I hope to find another book like this one to read.
I'm not normally one for mermaid tales but this series won me over. There were quite a few surprises I didn't predict.
This is the final installment of this series. And I would say if you enjoyed the first two stories, you enjoy this one as well. The story ends as it should. I was not able to put down any of these stories. But I still only gave the read 4 stars as I probably wouldn't re read the series.
I read all three books. It was very easy reading. Reminded me of something I would have read in grade school. It was a romantic Harry potter meets mermaid theme. Wasn't the most challenging book series I've ever read, but I was addicted and had to read all three. Would really only recommend to a female crowd. It's a romantic heartthrob style series with fantasy and sci-fi feel. A little too much mushy mushy love descriptions of a teenage hormones, but all in all very good plot and interesting descriptions about growing up and accepting your destiny and future. Would recommend to a friend who loves mermaids and fantasy. Romantic needs alike
